1. Product Introduction

The Gemini 435Le is a high-performance industrial-grade binocular 3D camera launched by Orbbec. Utilizing a master-slave fusion stereo vision technique, it consistently delivers high-quality depth images in both indoor and outdoor scenarios, ensuring reliable operation for robots in complex and demanding environments.

Its core strengths are primarily reflected in three aspects:

  • Long-Range, High-Precision Perception: Comprehensively optimized for depth performance, it provides low-noise, high-density, and high-integrity environmental depth data during movement. It particularly enhances depth effectiveness at long distances, aiding large equipment in stable navigation and precise obstacle avoidance within complex environments.
  • Accurate Edge Restoration Capability: Accurately restores the contour edges of complex objects. It can effectively identify objects made of various materials such as plastic, wood, and metal, meeting the requirements of high-precision identification and measurement tasks.
  • Flexible Multi-Scenario Adaptation: Features multiple built-in preset depth modes. Users can flexibly switch between them via software (e.g., AMR perception mode for obstacle avoidance, dimension measurement mode for identification). A single camera can handle multiple tasks, significantly reducing hardware costs and system integration complexity.

Furthermore, the Gemini 435Le boasts an IP67 protection rating, exhibits excellent electromagnetic interference resistance, and can operate in a wide temperature range from -10°C to 50°C, ensuring stable performance even under harsh industrial conditions.

2. Orbbec SDK

3. Orbbec SDK Features 

The Orbbec SDK provides the following functions, which are operational on the Gemini 435Le camera once installed:

  • Depth Camera Access and Mode Control
  • Support for Depth Post-Processing (e.g., filtering, downsampling, disparity-to-depth conversion)
  • RGB Camera Access and Control (e.g., exposure and white balance)
  • Support for Outputting a Confidence Map and adjusting confidence filter parameters
  • Support for Depth-to-Color Alignment
  • Synchronized Depth and RGB Camera Streams, with configurable latency between cameras
  • External Device Synchronization Control, with configurable delay offset between devices
  • Motion Sensor Access (gyroscope and accelerometer)
  • Point Cloud Access and Control
  • Camera Frame Metadata Access for processing image resolution, timestamps, etc.
  • Device Calibration Data Access

 

4. Camera Tools

Orbbec provides the following tools:

  • Orbbec Viewer tool, used for monitoring device data streams and configuring different modes;
  • Orbbec Quality Assessment Tool, used for assessing camera depth quality.
